I’ve been taking some time out offline for the past week. NYE was spent in iso in our apartment, I fell asleep watching a movie before midnight but woke up to the fireworks that leaked through our bedroom window. An odd feeling, what’s usually a night filled with friends and new possibilities of a new year, this one felt different yet at the same time so familiar with this strange presence being so long it’s almost comfortable. My anxiety won the better of me January first. What usually is my diary planner, intention maker, first run, first clean, I could barely get off the couch. I’ve dealt with various illnesses over the last couple of years, what I was once optimistic about has been replaced with sickness anxiety and google searches late at night for symptoms. Anxiety usually is calmed with journal diaries, breath work, mindfulness, yet with a sudden trigger it can all feel undone. So I decided to stop for a moment. Allow myself to rest without feeling like I’m wasting time, stretch, allow all the feelings and then release them with prayer. This morning I woke up with a sense of peace and feeling more myself again. I don’t have expectations of this year, but I would love that out of all my intentions, that peace is the everlasting presence that remains.
