I love food! It’s been an incredible passion and creative outlet for me. When I was younger I was allergic to dairy and gluten (amongst many other things). I later tied this reaction to stress that I wasn’t dealing with.
When I get stressed it goes straight for my stomach! It wasn’t until a few years later where (with prayer) I reintroduced those foods back into my diet and no longer suffered reactions. I’m not saying that this is everyone’s story with allergies, but it was mine.
From the limitations, I learnt how to get creative (there weren’t any trendy vegan gf/df places back in mid-2000s). That desire to still enjoy foods I couldn’t have, drew me to create similar flavours with ingredients that were available to me.
I’ve had unhealthy views of food as well, it hasn’t been a perfect journey for me. Warning signs of not listening to my body was losing my period for 8 months! I used to obsess over food being “bad” or “good” and would even avoid catching up over dinner with people knowing it wouldn’t be “healthy”.
After losing my period for almost a year, I knew something had to change. It eventually came back when I focused on stress management and a balanced diet.
I eat intuitively and love to create food with nourishing ingredients. I want to honour what my body craves and feel good from the inside out.
